Leaves ligulate, acute at the apex, ca. 80 - 120 x 1.5 - 2 cm, absent at the flowering time and appearing in autumn, dark green, with a prominent midrib on the abaxial surface, abaxial midrib distinctly purplish-red. Inflorescence scapose, umbellate; scape solid, 70 - 75 cm long, ca. 2.0 cm diam. at base, light green with purplish-red base; involucral bracts 2, lanceolate, 5.0 - 9.0 cm long by 1.8 cm wide at base, membranous, light green; bracteoles membranous, lanceolate, 1.0 - 4.0 cm long. Flowers 5 - 7 per umbel; pedicels 2 - 2.5 cm long; perianth with 6 tepals; tube ca. 1.5 cm; lobes yellow, abaxially with white mid-vein, strongly recurved, narrowly oblanceolate, ca. 7 x 0.8 - 1.0 cm, margin strongly undulate. Stamen filaments 6, creamy-yellow, slightly longer than perianth; anther light purplish, dorsifixed, 8 - 10 mm long before anthesis.
