The genus is characterized by moderately pectinated antennae which is rather longer than thorax; broad wings; forewings almost straight in front, hardly angular at tips, very slightly oblique along the exterior border, interior angle rounded (Walker 1855). Cleapa is globally represented by only two species C. latifascia Walker, 1855 (NW India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, SW China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan) and C. cleapa Schintlmeister, 2007 (Thailand). The present study describes Cleapa ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. the third species of this genus.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/5630EA35FFFAFFEE50AC9685FED6AB75	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. (Figs. 4, 30). C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. differs from C. latifacia and C. cleapa by having filiform antennae in males instead of long, pectinate ones. Further, C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. is distinct from other species by the basal and postmedian area are darker than other areas of forewing, ground color is light brown, apical region of the forewing displays a creamy apical blotch, whereas in C. cleapa forewing basal area and the postmedian area of the forewings prominent yellow brown, the median area of the forewings displays whitish discal spots and a blackish spot near the dorsum. In the male genitalia of C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov., uncus undivided; socii longer than uncus and pointed; valva simple, costa and sacculus almost parallel with apex of the valva rounded whereas in C. latifascia vulva apex is pointed and highly sclerotized (in C. cleapa, vulva is quadrangular in shape and vulva apex rounded rounded). Phallus of C. cleapa has serrated structure at the tip whereas it is absent in C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. In C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov., 8 th tergite and sternite without any modifications and weakly sclerotized whereas C. latifascia and C. cleapa are slightly bilobed and highly sclerotized.

Description (Figs. 1, 2): Forewing length 18–20 mm in males. The antennas of the male are long filiform. Forewings light brown, relatively elongated, apex rounded, costal margin slightly curved. The postmedian fascia is of diagnostic shape.Apical region of the forewing displays creamy apical blotch. HW uniformly creamy brown, with rounded apex; costal margin slightly curved; fringe chequered. Male genitalia (Figs. 28, 29). Uncus short, broad, distally tapered, apically pointed and undivided; socii longer than uncus, thick and apically pointed; tegumen short, rather broad, dome-shaped; vinculum short; saccus well developed, rectangular; valva simple, narrow, elongated, apex slightly pointed; juxta membranous, unmodified; phallus short, weakly sclerotized; endophallus relatively short; cornutus absent. 8 th tergite and sternite without any modifications and weakly sclerotized.

The female of C. ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. is unknown.

Etymology: The species name is derived from the Ukhrul district from which the type materials was collected.

Distribution: India: Manipur.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/5630EA35FFFAFFEF50AC94F7FDE1A8A0	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The forewings of H. tangkhula sp. nov. are chocolate-brown with a hint of reddish colour, while H. avis have greyish grounds without reddish-brown scales. The hindwings of H. tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. are dark brown, while those of H. avis are paler and more greyish. Both the species have large rectangular-shaped apical projections on the valves, which has rounded tips in H. tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov., but they are slightly pointed in H. avis (Fig. 38). H. tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. have long and pointed socii, while H. avis has relatively short socii. The large prominent black spot at the basal fascia is a characteristic feature for H. tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov.

Description (Figs. 9, 10): Forewing length 21– 25 mm in males.Antennae bipectinate with short rami. Forewing relatively broad, elongated shape with pointed apex. Ground color of the forewing chocolate-brown, with a hint reddish colour. The apex of the forewings, the discal spot and a basal streak toward the margin are pale yellowish brown. The basal fascia has a large prominent black spot. Hindwings are dark brown. Male genitalia (Figs. 36, 37). Uncus long and bifurcated uncus with short arm. Socii well developed, long and slightly curved, with pointed tip, almost 2/3 rd of uncus. Tegumen short, rather broad, dome shaped. Valves robust and large rectangular shaped apical projection; Valva apex slightly protruded. Phallus robust and short with two long and curved processes distally. Cornuti not visible. 8th sternite with a pair of strongly sclerotized and tapered lateral projections. 8 th tergite characteristically semispherical notched.

The female of H. tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. is unknown.

Etymology: The species name is derived from “Tangkhul tribe” of the Naga community in Manipur who play an important role in the conservation and protection of biodiversity in the Shirui Hill, Manipur.

Distribution: India: Manipur.

Habitat (Figs. 56): All the three new species, Cleapa ukhrulensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov., Spatalina rimbiensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. and Hexafrenum tangkhula Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. are currently known from the Shirui Hills, Manipur (NE India), of which S. rimbiensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. is also known from Sikkim (Rimbi) and different localities of Nepal. They occur at altitudes between 1900 to 2700m above sea level whereas S. rimbiensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister, sp. nov. is reported from lower altitude at 1550m in Nepal. All the species were collected mainly during the monsoon months (July and September). The Shirui Hill, has a cold climate, with temperatures between 3°C and 33°C. Most of the year, the upper ridges of Shirui Hill are covered with clouds, but they receive rain from May through the beginning of October. In the region, average annual rainfall is about 1763.7 millimeters. There are a variety of Rhododendron and Quercus species that dominate the vegetation in the area. Despite the relatively sparse population, the forest area is heavily disturbed by anthropogenic activities, such as seasonal cultivation, illegal tree felling, forest burning, and domesticated animal grazing (Schintlmeister & Irungbam 2019).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/5630EA35FFFCFFE950AC93DFFD86AD54	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The basal, discal and the postmedian areas of the forewings are contrasting white coloured, which makes the species unmistakable. The hindwings are greyish brown. The male genitalia are characterized by a slightly bilobed uncus, a pair of robust and rectangular shaped socii which are circular shaped in albinobasis. The valves display a long and tapered costal process. The phallus bears many cornuti and a smaller spine. P. wanqu shows its apical prominent reddish brown moon space is enlarge towards the base of the forewing which is represented by a thin reddish-brown line in P. albocalceolata. In the male genitalia, both the species have long uncus but P. wanqu has knob-shaped tip which is not in P. albocalceolata.
