TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., California, Humboldt Co., Eureka .

DISTRIBUTION: Pacific coast coniferous forest from the Columbia River south through W. Oregon and N. California (U.S.A.).

COMMENT: The name occidentalis was formerly applied, but populations north of the Columbia River, including occidentalis and caurinus are now assigned to gapperi; see Johnson and Ostenson, 1959, J.
