E. cinerea was not included in the catalogue of the Lepidoptera of Russia (Sinev et al. 2022), but it is actually known from Dagestan since its original description. Staudinger (1879) described this species based on several specimens. The author referred to specimens (from collection of J. Lederer), originating from Lebanon (Beirut) and Cyprus, and also to one specimen from Derbent (Dagestan). The range of E. cinerea needs clarification with very desirable revision of this taxon; also, morphological differences between E. cinerea and Eurhodope incompta (Zeller, 1847) are to be studied. In Dagestan, the species inhabits dry stony steppe (Figs 2, 4). In Turkestan Province of Kazakhstan, E. cinerea is a widely distributed and common species which occurs in mountain habitats and also in different types of semi-deserts.

Distribution. Poltavsky & Ilyina (2016c) reported Loxostege aeruginalis (Ḩbner, 1796) for Dagestan. It should be noted that this record probably refers to L. clathralis, as this species is illustrated by the authors with legend “ Loxostege aeruginalis (Ḩbner, 1796)”.

Distribution. the south of Europe, Northeast Caucasus (Dagestan), Turkey, Transcaucasia, Afghanistan, Central Asia (Slamka 2013; Korb & Sinev 2019; Sinev & Korb 2022).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/756387A9FF8FFFB6FF198489E5A0FBCF	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
