9927FF59D125FFAF0AD1FCE2984FF906.taxon	distribution	Currently, the genus is monotypic and only known from West-Africa.	en	Devriese, Hendrik, Husemann, Martin (2023): Afrosystolederus garmsi (Orthoptera, Tetrigidae), a new genus and species from Mount Gibi (Liberia) with remarks on Systolederus, Pseudosystolederus and Teredorus. 9927FF59D125FFAF0AD1FCE2984FF906.taxon	diagnosis	DIAGNOSIS. Fastigium very narrow (1 / 3 - 1 / 4 of the width of the eyes). Eyes extending above the pronotum. Lateral lobes of the paranota not contiguous to the body. Hind wings about as long as the pronotum. The new genus is separated from (the types of) Systolederus, Pseudosystolederus and Teredorus by the alae that do not extend beyond the pronotum. From Pseudosystolederus it is also separated by the absence of projections on the middle femora. It is separated from Teredorus by the lateral lobes of the paranota that are not contiguous to the body.	en	Devriese, Hendrik, Husemann, Martin (2023): Afrosystolederus garmsi (Orthoptera, Tetrigidae), a new genus and species from Mount Gibi (Liberia) with remarks on Systolederus, Pseudosystolederus and Teredorus. 9927FF59D125FFAF0AD1FCE2984FF906.taxon	discussion	JUSTIFICATION OF THE CREATION OF A NEW GENUS We describe a new genus for the new Afrotropical species, in order not to augment the confusion in the taxonomy and systematics of species with a narrow fastigium. Most of these are present in the Indo-Malayan region and have been described in Systolederus and Teredorus. Teredorus, however, was created for a Neotropical species. It is highly unlikely that the genus would be present in the Neotropical, Afrotropical and Indo-Malayan regions, as Deng et al. (2014) have argued. Moreover, in the Afrotropics it is only known from West-Africa, and in the Neotropical region from Peru. In Africa, there is no other genus known that seems closely related.	en	Devriese, Hendrik, Husemann, Martin (2023): Afrosystolederus garmsi (Orthoptera, Tetrigidae), a new genus and species from Mount Gibi (Liberia) with remarks on Systolederus, Pseudosystolederus and Teredorus. 9927FF59D125FFAC0AD1F8AE9846FE16.taxon	materials_examined	TYPE MATERIAL Holotype: LIBERIA, Montserr. Cty, Mount Gibi, alt. 200 m, Semba Creek, 06 ° 35 N 10 ° 05 W, 18. III. 1989, R. Garms leg., male Paratype: same locality, female Both specimens are preserved in the Hamburg Museum under the collection accessions. ZMH 81063 (HT) and ZMH 81062 (PT). Mount Gibi is a low (607 m) and densily forested mountain on the Gibi Range, 50 km NE of the capital Monrovia. The presence of the new species on this isolated mountain is puzzling. DERIVATIO NOMINIS. The species is named after Prof. Dr. Rolf Garms, who died on 5 th October 2021 at the age of 89. Dr. Garms was foremost amongst experts on blackfly biology and on the transmission and control of onchocerciasis, but was interested in all insects and provided extensive material, especially collected in Western Africa to the ZMH; amonst this material, the newly described species was discovered.	en	Devriese, Hendrik, Husemann, Martin (2023): Afrosystolederus garmsi (Orthoptera, Tetrigidae), a new genus and species from Mount Gibi (Liberia) with remarks on Systolederus, Pseudosystolederus and Teredorus.
