Leaf sheath and blade sparsely tomentose, leaf blade flat or convolute, - 8.0 cm × 1.0 – 2.0 mm, hirsute, leaf sheath membranous on margin, ligule 1.0 – 2.0 mm long, obtuse and irregularly laciniate. Peduncle 1.0 mm wide, with dense intricate and retrorse hair (up to 0.7 mm long), mostly retrorse. Inflorescence a panicle, dense, linear to ovate, 2.0 – 6.0 × 0.5 – 1.0 cm, interrupted in lower part (slightly loose at base), branches appressed pubescent throughout the panicle. Floret callus pubescent. Spikelet laterally compressed, up to 5.0 mm (9.0 mm including an awn), with 2 (3) florets, rhachilla internodes pubescent, glumes persistent, membranous, subequal, lower glume 3.0 – 4.0 mm, upper glume 4.0 – 5.0 mm, glume apex acute, keel scaberulous, lemma 4 mm, membranous, keeled, glabrous, or puberulous, dentate (2 - fid) at apex, 0.5 - 0.7 mm, awned from upper 1 / 3, awn 3.0 – 4.0 mm, geniculate, Palea keel scaberulous.
