The female of Centris jakalteka sp. nov. is similar to C. maya sp. nov., differing from it by the clypeal surface (disc shiny with an irregular perpendicular unpunctated area in the middle in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 1); strongly coriaceous, with coarse and dense punctation on disc, sparser near upper margin in C. maya sp. nov. (Fig. 9)), by the punctation on T4 (relatively uniform except at distal margin in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 4); fine and dense on anterior half, scattered towards distal margin in C. maya sp. nov. (Fig. 12)), by the shape of the central area of the epistomal suture in relation to the central lower margin of clypeus (more arched in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 1); almost equally arched in C. maya sp. nov. (Fig. 9)), and by the morphology of the primary and secondary basitibial plates (both plates relatively rhomboidal with rounded lateroinferior margins in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 3); primary plate elliptical and secondary relatively rhomboidal in C. maya sp. nov. (Fig. 11)). The male of this new species differs from the true C. lutea, among other characters, by the position of the second mandibular tooth (equally distant from the other teeth in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 7); closer to the third tooth in C. lutea), and by the pubescence on the dorsal surface of the mesepisternum (light yellow in C. jakalteka sp. nov. (Fig. 6); blackish in C. lutea).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F487E77E205807B8A465756C29FCC7	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. MEXICO: Jalisco State: Cumbre de Guadalupe, Talpa de Allende. Michoacán State: Uruapan. Morelos State: Tepoztlán (Fig. 19).

Comment. Considering the light pubescence on the distal segments of the metasoma, Centris purhepecha sp. nov. looks similar to C. carolae. However, these species are easily recognized by the pubescence on the dorsal surface of the mesoscutellum (dark brown to black in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 14); yellow in C. carolae), by the coloration of the clypeus and labrum (blackish in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 13); dark reddish brown in C. carolae), and by the pubescence on head (blackish in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 13); whitish in C. carolae). This new species is also superficially similar to C. aureiventris Vivallo, Vélez & Fernández, 2013, a South American species that occurs in mountainous areas of Colombia and Peru (Vivallo et al., 2013). However, they differ by the position of the inner orbits of the compound eyes (almost parallel-sided in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 13); converging downward in C. aureiventris), by the pubescence on the ventral surface of mesepisternum (blackish in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 14); white yellowish in C. aureiventris), and on the distal segments of the metasoma (light yellowish brown in C. purhepecha sp. nov. (Fig. 14); yellowish in C. aureiventris).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F487E77E27580AB8A46770694BFF63	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
