Type materials. Holotype. China: Male , Gyirong County, Tibet, 2-v-2023, Libin Ma coll. (SNNU) . Paratypes. 3 males and 5 females, Gyirong County, Tibet, 2-v-2023, Libin Ma coll. (SNNU) .

Etymology. The name refers to the dorsal side of the ectoparamere, which forms a sting-like protrution.

Description. Male. Body size small for Gryllinae . Head less pilose, almost as wide as the pronotum. Occiput flat, vertex inclined slightly. Frontal rostrum nearly as wide as antennal scape; antennal scape round shield shaped. Frons transversely broad. Median ocellus and lateral ocelli rounded, the former significantly smaller than the latter. Postclypeus narrowly banded, angular on both sides; anteclypeus nearly elliptical. Labrum scutellate. The end section of the maxillary palpi axe-like, slightly longer than the third segment. Pronotum approximately rectangular in dorsal view, anterior margin slightly concave, posterior margin straight, possessing long setae on anterior margin and lateral lobe. Abdominal terga densely pilose. Tympanum absent. Legs bearing short and long setae. Dorsal spurs of hind tibia numbered 4:4 (inner: outer). Apical spurs numbered three on both sides, and the middle one longest of outer apical spurs, the ventral one shortest of the inner ones. Subgenital plate triangular, densely pilose and apically acute.

Male genitalia. In dorsal view, epiphallus nearly H-shaped, the outer margin of lateral lobe distinctly inner curved and blunt at the end. In lateral view, epiphallic lateral lobe knife-like. Ectoparamere distinguished, its ventral portion finger-like, and the dorsal portion bent towards the center of the dorsal side and form a sting-like protrusion.

Female. Similar to male, but slightly larger. Ovipositor apically sharp.

Coloration. Body black. Maxillary palpi black or black-brown. Legs yellowish-brown. Female abdominal terga with yellowish brown and black pubescence. Ovipositor yellowish-brown.

Remarks. C. spinae is the third described species of Capillogryllus discovered since 2003. The females of the other two species in this genus have wing buds, black-red body and reddish-brown legs, while C. spinae does not have wing buds, has a black body and yellowish-brown legs, and the male external genitalia of this species is obviously larger than C. dolabripalpis . The end of epiphallus of C. dolabripalpis arch bridge shaped, whereas C. spinae nearly rectangular; the ectoparamere of C. dolabripalpis spoon-shaped, while C. spinae is finger-like.
