Genitalia slide No. 32608) “ Barberton | Transvaal | AJTJ. | 7.12 [19] 10 ” [handwritten by Janse]; Coleophora scariphota Meyr. | 3 / 4 | E. Meyrick det. | in Meyrick coll. ”; “ NUMUK 0101894273 ”, in coll. NHMUK. Note: In the NHMUK are four specimens determined by Meyrick as Coleophora scariphota Meyrick, 1911, but they are not part of the original material of that species; there are two additional specimens similarly identified in TMSA [examined]. Of the NHMUK specimens, three come from the locality of Haenertsburg where those of the TMSA were also collected, while one was collected in Barberton. Examining the latter specimen I observed some differences in habitus and the dissection of the male genitalia confirmed that it is a new species, very different from C. scariphota.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI). 03FB6F3B993AD23F5499FD3B86DCFF5C.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Small species of pale appearance, close to C. bantuella Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2005, known only from Democratic Republic of Congo (Katanga). In comparison with C. bantuella the size of C. animula is smaller. In the male genitalia of C. animula the main differences concern the tegumen which is larger, less constricted in the middle, the sacculus thicker and shorter on the outer edge, the phallotheca which is smaller, the structure formed by the fusion of the cornuti, which is more sclerotized and does not have the sharp point that is at the apex of that of C. bantuella (Fig. 21). To the same group belongs C. mirabibella Baldizzone, Mey & van der Wolf, 2011, a smaller species (5 – 6 mm of wingspan), greyish brown in colour, which has notable differences in male genitalia.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI). 03FB6F3B9935D2285499FB228400FCB0.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Medium-large species, with brown anterior wing white streaked. The male genitalia do not resemble those of any other Afrotropical species due to the tegumen very narrow in the middle, the strongly curved sacculus, the shape of the phallotheca with one of the two juxta rods surmounted by a triangular expansion. The female genitalia resemble those of C. aarviki Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2011 and of C. namaqua Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2015, species with brown forewing and white costal streak. The differences are evident, particularly in the shape of the colliculum of C. incomparabilis which is not strongly sclerotized as in the other species, but transparent, finely denticulate, with a more compact area at the apex of the medial line; another obvious difference is the large corpus bursae and the anchor-like signum.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI). 03FB6F3B9921D2205499FF7A8744FABB.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Small species, with an overall whitish appearance, suffused with light ochre. The male genitalia do not resemble those of any known Afrotropical species, but are similar to those of the Palearctic species of the group of C. riffelensis Rebel, 1913, in particular to C. dracontea Baldizzone, 1994 in the shape of the apex of the transtilla which is upcurved and bifid. The differences are evident, because in C. quaggaefontis the transtilla has a forked dorsal expansion, the lateral edge of the sacculus is thicker and the protuberance at the dorsal corner is more robust and notched on the inner edge. The phallotheca of C. quaggaefontis differs from all those of the group of C. riffelensis in the two juxta rods dilated at the apex, each with a long curved spine, with a very characteristic shape.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI). 03FB6F3B9926D2245499FD3C82DDFF71.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Small-sized species with a white overall appearance and forewing scattered with brown scales. The genitalia resemble those of C. meyi Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2004, a small Namibian species with striated forewing. In male genitalia the main differences concern the shape of the sacculus, which in C. meyi has a small triangular expansion at the ventral angle and an elongate, sharp triangular dorsal tip at the dorsal angle, whereas C. intricata has a long, horn-like protuberance. The phallotheca of C. meyi differs mainly in the shape of the apical expansion of the larger juxta rod. The cornuti are numerous, gathered in a curved and long braid, whereas in C. intricata there is a single awl-like cornutus. In female genitalia, C. meyi has a narrower sterigma, the colliculum is more robust and much more sclerotized, and the spinulate part of the ductus bursae is much shorter and wider in comparison with C. intricata.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI). 03FB6F3B991BD21A5499FF7A82FEFB6D.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Small species belonging to the group of C. psychropa Meyrick, 1921, which includes also C. etoshae Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2011 and C. camerunensis Baldizzone & van der Wolf, 2020. All have the same habitus with the forewing of uniform ochre colour and a thin white costal streak. The male of C. transvaalensis is unknown. The female genitalia differ from those of the other species by the following characteristics: the shape of the sterigma, which is about as long as it is wide, the cup-shaped colliculum is more elongated, the ductus bursae is slightly wider in the distal half, the presence of a short medial line at the junction between colliculum and ductus bursae and a very short, asymmetrical spinulate section, and the corpus bursae smaller in the shape of an oval sac.	en	Baldizzone, Giorgio (2021): On the taxonomy of Afrotropical Coleophoridae (VI).
