(Figs 1–9)

Type material. Holotype: female, Lushuiping, Mt. Changbaishan, Jilin, 1989.vii.30, Zhou Xiaohua (FAFU). Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype.

Description. Female (holotype). Body length 1.8 mm; fore wing length 2.1 mm.

Head. Transverse in dorsal view, 2.0 × as wide as long and 0.9 × as wide as that of mesoscutum. Ocelli small, anterior ocellus distance from posterior ocelli. POL: OD: OOL= 0.7: 0.3: 0.8. Frons and vertex shiny, scattered with sparse small punctures and fine setae; vertex narrowed behind eyes, area behind ocellar area smooth and shiny, without setae; temple and gena feebly punctate and shiny, with dense setae; occiput slightly concave. Approximate triangular shape in anterior view, with antennal sockets high above middle level of eyes; face slightly convex, finely micro-punctate, associated with long hairs; inner margin of eyes moderately constricted at middle, more or less looking like hyperbolic curve. Antenna longer than body (12.6: 10.0); flagellomeres thin, with bristles, most flagellomeres with placodes arranged regularly in two ranks excerpt for last five or six flagellomeres. Flagellomere proportions: 2 L/W = 2.7, 8 L/W = 1.8, 14 L/W = 1.2. L 2/14 = 2.2, W 2/14 = 1.2. F12–15 tightly connected.

Mesosoma. Mesoscutum with spherical bulge and densely but evenly punctate and setose; notauli indistinct. Disc of scutellum also densely punctate with dense setae all over; scutellar sulcus deep with a few carinae. Propodeum highly polished, bearing a complete, median carina.

Wings. Forewing without areolet, vein r almost vertically emitted from outside 2/5 of pterostigma; r and 2-SR meeting at a 150~155 degree angle; 2-SR: r: width of pterostigma = 0.8: 0.8: 0.9; vein 1-R1 1.3 × as long as pterostigma, pterostigma 2.1 × as long as wide. 1-CU1:2-CU1:m-cu= 0.8: 1.1: 1.0. Hind wing narrow, vein cu-a incurved.

Legs. Hind coxa small, shiny, scattered with short setae. Hind tibia approximately 0.9 × as long as hind tarsus; inner hind tibial spurs almost as long as outer one, slightly less than 0.4 × as long as hind basitarsus.

Metasoma. T1 arch, 2.3× as long as wide, almost parallel on both sides but weakly constricted at middle and slightly wide at apical, basal half depression and smooth, with a small smooth bump at middle apex. T2 + T3 rectangular and wider than T1 (1.3: 1.0), slightly constricted before the suture between T2 and T3, T2 1.9 × as wide as long, T3 1.8 × as wide as long, T2 1.1 × longer than T3 (1.1: 1.0), T4 small and circular contracted at apical. T2 + T3 + T4 and most T1 almost completely covered with finely-textured and dense aciculate sculpture. Tergites posterior to T4 concealed under it. Ovipositor short and bending downward, ovipositor sheath 0.35 × as long as hind basitarsus. Hypopygium short, strongly and evenly sclerotized.

Colour. Body mostly black-brown. Antenna brown; maxillary palp, labial palp, legs and most of the ventral metasoma yellow, except for apex of metasoma dull golden; apical half of hind tibiae and hind basitarsus yellow-brown. Pterostigma and veins pale yellowish and semi-transparent.

Male. Unknown.

Host. Unknown.

Etymology. The specific name “tetratergite” is derived from the Latin, referring to that the first four tergites of abdomen forming a reticular carapace.

Distribution. Jilin (Northeast China).

Remarks. This species can be easily distinguished from other described species of genus Deuterixys by having the fourth metasomal tergite chitinized, rugose and densely sculptured.

http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C88793FFD4FFCAFF589856D930F91E	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
