(2019a: 93), differing mainly in its leaves with hairy petiole and blade, adaxial surface of blade with numerous irregular spots and without crystalloid bodies, inflorescences 2.5–8 cm long and as long as leaves, pistillate flowers with 5 tepals, glabrous ovary.</p> <p>TYPE:— VIETNAM. Platycentrum (Klotzsch 1855: 243) de Candolle (1859: 134).</p> <p>TYPE:— CHINA. Yunnan Province: Mengzi, damp forests of the Red River, 1830–2130 m, February 1896, W. Hancock 468 (lectotype, designated by Shui &amp; Huang [1999: 18]: K: K000761493 photo!).</p> <p>Ecology and phenology:— Forests, shady moist environments on slopes and along stream banks, at 800–2100 m a.s.l. Flowering in June–October, fruiting from July.</p> <p>Distribution:— China: SE Yunnan; northern Vietnam: Ha Giang Province (districts Quan Ba and Vi Xuyen).</p> <p>Notes:— The presence of this species in Vietnam is confirmed here by specimen citation for the first time. Li et al. (2018) treated B. versicolor as a narrow endemic of southeast Yunnan. Hughes et al. (2015 –, 2018) indicated B. versicolor to inhabit northern Vietnam, and Pham et al. (2021) listed it for the country, but they have not provided any documentation of their records.</p> <p>The specimens Averyanov et al. VR 1450 and Averyanov et al. VR 1514 were erroneously assigned by Averyanov et al. (2020) to B. discolor R.Brown in Aiton (1813: 284), which is currently treated as a synonym of the Chinese endemic B. grandis Dryander (1791: 163) (Gu et al. 2007). In line with our re-identification of these specimens, we confirm that B. grandis is unknown from Vietnam at present time.</p> <p>Specimens examined:— VIETNAM. Platycentrum (Klotzsch 1855: 243) de Candolle (1859: 134).</p> <p>Diagnosis:— Remarkable in producing bulbils at junction of petiole and leaf blade; most close to B. longialata K.Y.Guan &amp; D.K.Tian (2000: 132), differing in petiole 5–10 cm long, shallowly lobed leaf blade 8–12 cm long and wide and setose on both sides and margin, staminate flowers with pedicel 12–22 mm long and tepals subequal in length, pistillate flowers with pedicel 0.4–1.2 cm long and with 4 tepals, styles 2.2–3 mm long. Also the new species is similar to B. macrotoma Irmscher (1951: 41), differing in its abaxially hairy leaf blade, glabrous peduncle, abaxially glabrous outer tepals of staminate flowers and all tepals of pistillate flowers, staminate flowers with outer tepals 10–15 mm long and 16–21 mm wide, pistillate flowers with 2 or 3 styles.</p> <p>TYPE:— LAO PDR. Platycentrum (Klotzsch 1855: 243) de Candolle (1859: 134).</p> <p>TYPE:— CHINA. Yunnan Province: Wenshan mt., in mixed forests, 2000 m, 17 August 1947, Feng K. M. 11323 (holotype PE; isotypes E: E00022104 photo!, KUN).</p> <p>Ecology and phenology:— Evergreen broad-leaved forests, moist environments along streams, mountain bamboo thickets, at 1000–2200 m a.s.l. Flowering in June–October, fruiting from August.</p> <p>Distribution: — China: Yunnan Province (Funing, Wenshan); northern Vietnam: Cao Bang Province (Phia Oac- Phia Den National Park) and Lao Cai Province (Bat Xat Nature Reserve).</p> <p>Note:— The species is reported here from Vietnam for the first time.</p> <p>Specimens examined:— VIETNAM.
