Head broad, narrower than pronotum with paranotal lobes; crown produced medially, anterior margin foliaceous, sinuate, coronal disc with triradial impression, basally with prominent tubercles, one at each side between mid line and inner margin of eyes, coronal disc covered with numerous small setiferous bullae; compound eyes small, protuberant laterally, ocelli lacking. Face with compound eyes wider than long, with numerous setiferous bullae on surface. Frontoclypeus swollen with lateral protuberances, more robust pair just before clypellus and a indistinct pair near anterior margin of head, lateral portions sulcate. Anteclypeus swollen with indistinct median prominence. Clypellus long. Lora distinct, gena large. Eye pads distinct. Antennal sockets deep, antennal ridges foliaceous, irregulately cupolate, with lower portion free and elongate downwards, antennal furrows long and deep, reaching posteriorly between eye pads and genal disc. Antenna short, scapus short, drum­like, pedicel barrel­like, with two subapical setae, third segment longest, subsequent five segments elongate, subequal in length, segments 4 – 8 with short subapical setae, terminal filament short, annulate. Rostrum robust, reaching beyond hind coxae, apical segment slightly longer than subapical. Pronotum very short, collar­like, with lateral triangulate paranotal lobes, posterior margin almost straight, with paired medially highly elevated ridge and area against anterior margin behind each eye tumid. Mesonotum very small, slightly inflated. Tegmina coriaceous, carapace­like, shielding abdominal pleural region, pitted, each puncture with setiferous tubercle, highly sculptured, with several protuberances on each side of commissural line, along longitudinal veins, claval suture with elevated, curved ridge at base, large protuberance on joined commissure in one­third distance from apex, venation obscure, appendix absent. Hind wings absent. Hind femora slightly laterally flattened, covered with short chaetae, with a single apical seta distinct and second, internal one strongly reduced. Hind tibiae triangular­subquadrangular in cross section, longitudinal rows with short macrosetae interspersed with long intercalary setae, rows PD and AD with four stout macrosetae, row AV with three stout macrosetae in apical part, row PV with single stout macroseta in apical part; double, transverse pecten on ventral surface of apex of hind tibia with proximal row of 7 spurs of spiniform plate and seta and distal row of 7 spurs of base and seta. Tarsomeres with numerous irregularly arranged setae, basitarsomere about as long as combined length of mid and apical tarsomeres, external plantar margin with row of 7 thicker setae, two larger apical setae; midtarsomere with two apical longer setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate. Abdomen broad, tergites and sternites with scarce setiferous bulla, laterotergites about three times as long as wide, with spiracles in cephalad portion. Male pygofer short, without caudal processes, caudal margin produced to a medial lobe, lobes of pygofer distinctly visible at ventral aspect, their external borders strongly convex; anal tube composed of sclerotized tubular segment 10 th, without processes, ringlike tergite 11 th with separate hirsute epiproct and cercal plates. Genital plates fused to broad triangulate valve, sometimes a trace of connection is visible, plates not fused along mid line, genital plate truncate in ventral and lateral view, dorsal surface with a sclerotized, curved ridge, extending along caudal margin, with a few long setae, caudal margin with microsetae along its length. Genital styles almost straight, enlarged in distal third, with small process in apical portion. Aedeagus composed, phallobase hemitubular, subquadrate basally, slender and short endotheca directed anteriad, then arched dorsocaudad, theca transparent forming tube­like sheath. Female pygofer about as long as wide, 8 th sternite large, deeply cleft in midline, not covering base of ovipositor. Gonoplac slightly exceeding length of pygofer, 1 st and 2 nd gonapophyses weakly curved, tapered in apical portion to pointed tip. General colour dark brown, with lighter tegmina, alternate dark brown and ivory spots along costal margin and large irregular yellowishivory fuzzy spots on discal area of tegmina (Fig. 1), face dark brown with tawny mark in median portion of frontoclypeus and its protuberances, anteclypeus tawny in median portion, lora tawny; antennal furrows sooty; legs with indistinct transverse bands. Head (Figs. 1, 3 & 5) with compound eyes 2 mm wide, about twice as wide as long in mid line. Vertex sinuate at anterior margin, 0.93 mm long in mid line, 1.6 mm wide, lateral tubercles distinct. Frontoclypeus 0.96 mm high in mid line, 0.78 mm wide. Pronotum 0.57 mm long in mid line, 2.6 mm wide. Tegmina (Figs. 1 & 6) 4.15 mm long, 1.99 mm wide, irregularly oval. Costal margin ridge like, thickened in basal portion, forming two distinct ridges, external and internal slightly bent under tegmen. Vein R with two round tubercles in its median portion, vein M with elongate protuberance in half of tegmen length and oval tubercle in 2 / 3 of tegmen length, vein Cu with ridge in its 1 / 3 length and big, triangular tubercle just beyond half of tegmen length. Claval suture with elongate ridge basally and three small tubercles posteriad. Claval vein with protuberance in form of longitudinal ledge cephalad, not reaching half of vein and small tubercle posteriad. Ridges and tubercles with setiferous bullae. Hind tibia 1.89 mm long, tarsomeres: basitarsomere 0.39 mm, mid tarsomere 0.19 mm and apical one 0.25 mm, respectively. Male pygofer (Figs. 7 & 8) short, without caudal processes, caudal margin produced to medial lobe, lobes of pygofer distinctly visible in ventral aspect. Genital plates fused to broad triangulate valve, plates not fused along mid line, genital plate truncate in lateral view, apical portion in ventral view oblique, dorsal surface with sclerotized, curved ridge, extending along caudal margin, with a few long setae, caudal margin with microsetae along. Theca of aedeagus (Figs. 9 & 10) in apical portion tapered. Genital styles (Figs. 11 & 12) almost straight, enlarged in distal third, in lateral view with rounded apex, with apical mesial blunt projection. Head with compound eyes as wide as pronotum with paranotal lobes, anterior margin foliaceous, produced anteriad, crown in anteromedian portion distinctly concave, slightly elevated in median line at base, two lateral impressions shallow, posterolateral tubercles indistinct. Frontoclypeus with lower pair of protuberances slightly tumid, upper pair indistinct, anteclypeus about half of frontoclypeus height, with two callused medial prominences, one near base and the other contiguous with apex. Pronotum narrow, collar­like, with paranotal lobes small, triangular, posterior margin almost straight, median ridges indistinct, mesonotum wide at base, as long as pronotum in mid line, slightly convex. Tegmina (Fig. 16) about 2.5 mm long, 1.3 mm wide, irregularly oval with tapered apex, coriaceous, punctate, each puncture with setiferous bulla. Costal margin ridge­like, thickened in basal portion, forming two distinct ridges, external and internal slightly bent under tegmen. Aedeagus (Figs. 19 & 20) complex, phallobase hemitubular, subquadrate basally, slender and short endotheca directed anteriad, then arched dorsocaudad, theca transparent forming tube­like sheath, tapered to apex. Genital style (Fig. 21) with apical half strongly turned dorsad and twisted, with apex narrow and acute, directed mediad, medial ridge and caudal margin covered with a few long setae. Female unknown. General colour tawny, with coronal disc brownish, pronotum brown, brown marking at base of tegmen between vein R and claval suture, ivory triangular marking in half of tegmina, face brown with upper portion of frontoclypeus yellowish, anteclypeus tawny. Body covered with setiferous bullae. Head slightly narrower than pronotum with paranotal lobes, anterior margin produced, foliaceous, sinuate. Vertex triangular with medial length about 0.7 times width between eyes, with triradial impression, posterolateral tubercles distinct. Frontoclypeus about as wide as high in mid line, with lower pair of protuberances tumid, upper pair conical, anteclypeus about half of frontoclypeus height, with two callused medial prominences, one near base and the other contiguous with apex. Pronotum narrow, collarlike, with paranotal lobes distinct, triangular, anterior margin almost straight, posterior margin concave, median ridges widely separated, indistinct, postocular protuberances distinct. Mesonotum wide at base, as long as pronotum in mid line, scutellum convex. Tegmina (Fig. 22) about 3.61 mm long, 2 mm wide, irregularly oval with tapered apex, coriaceous, punctate, each puncture with setiferous bulla. Costal margin ridge like, thickened in basal portion, forming two distinct ridges, external and internal slightly bent under tegmen. Oval indistinct protuberance at base of common vein R + M, vein R with one conical tubercle beyond half of tegmen length and another in about 1 / 3 distance from apex. Vein M with one conical tubercle in about half of tegmen length and another conical tubercle at the level of joined commissure protuberance; vein Cu with small conical tubercle before half of tegmen length and bigger one in about 1 / 3 distance from apex. Claval suture in form of ridge from base up to about 1 / 3 of tegmen length and one conical tubercle before half of tegmen length. Claval vein with tubercle in distal portion of vein; joined commissure protuberance very distinct, triangular. Hind wings absent. Fore legs covered with setae, tibia with row AV with three longer, stiff setae in half length. Mid legs slightly longer, tibia covered with setae; hind legs more slender, femur with two apical setae, with tibia about 2.04 mm long, rows PD and AD with five stout macrosetae, row AV with four stout macrosetae in distal half, row PV with two stout macrosetae in apical part, apex of hind tibia on ventral surface with proximal row of 7 spurs of spiniform plate and seta, and distal row of 7 spurs of base and seta. Tarsomeres with numerous irregularly arranged setae, basitarsomere about as long as combined length of mid and apical tarsomeres, external plantar margin with row of 7 thicker setae, a few similar setae also on plantar surface, mid and apical tarsomere subequal in length, covered with setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate. Pygofer (Fig. 23) wider than long, genital plates fused basally with valve, elongate, turned medially at apex with latter club­like, slightly tapering, dorsal surface with sclerotized, curved ridge, extending along caudal margin, with a few long setae, caudal margin with microsetae along its length. Aedeagus (Figs. 24 & 25) complex, phallobase hemitubular, subquadrate basally, slender and long endotheca directed anteriad, then arched dorsocaudad, reaching almost to apex of theca, theca transparent, forming tube­like sheath, tapered to apex in lateral view, slightly widened in dorsal view. Genital style (Figs 26 & 27) with apical half strongly turned dorsad, wide, with apex narrow and acute, directed ventrad, medial ridge and caudal margin covered with a few long setae. Pronotum narrow, collar­like, with paranotal lobes distinct, triangular, anterior margin almost straight, posterior margin almost straight, only with shallow incision between median ridges, median ridges widely separated, indistinct, postocular ridges distinct; mesonotum wide at base, slightly longer than pronotum in mid line, scutellum convex. An oval indistinct protuberance at base of common vein R + M, vein R with one conical tubercle just before half of tegmen length; vein M with one small, conical tubercle at half of tegmen length. Vein Cu with bigger tumosity in about 1 / 3 distance from apex. Claval suture in form of ridge with two longitudinal projections, one at base and the other elongate oval distinctly before half of tegmen length. Claval vein with very indistinct projection at base; joined commissure protuberance very distinct, triangular. Hind wings lacking. Fore legs covered with setae, tibia with row AV with three longer, stiff setae in half length. Mid legs slightly longer, tibia covered with setae; hind legs more slender, femur with single apical seta, tibia about 1.7 mm long, rows PD and AD with four stout macrosetae, row AV with four stout macrosetae in distal half, row PV with two stout macrosetae in apical part, apex with double, transverse pecten on ventral surface, with proximal row of 7 spurs of spiniform plate and seta and distal row of 7 spurs of base and seta. Tarsomeres with numerous irregularly arranged setae, basitarsomere about as long as combined length of mid and apical tarsomeres, external plantar margin with row of 7 thicker setae, a few similar setae also on plantar surface, mid and apical tarsomere subequal in length, covered with setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate. Female sternite 8 th large, 1.45 mm wide, 0.71 mm long in mid line, deeply cleft in mid line, not covering base of ovipositor; laterally of median cleft pair of fissures not reaching caudal margin. Female pygofer 0.85 mm long, covered with setiferous bulla, setae hooked, lateral lobe of pygofer with small projection caudad. Ovipositor 0.99 mm long. Genital vestibulum in female with pair of elongate, slightly curved sclerotizations (Fig. 29). Male: not known. ETYMOLOGY: From Maori name of Nothofagus tree — tawha. Anterior margin of head distinctly sinuate, projected in median portion, with distinct anterolateral lobes. Vertex trilobate, with median length about 0.6 times width between compound eyes. Triradial impression in anterior portion distinct, median ridge distinct, reaching middle of vertex length, posterolateral tubercles distinct (Fig. 30). Frontoclypeus (Fig. 31) about as wide as high in mid line, with lower pair of protuberances indistinct and upper pair missing, median portion of frontoclypeus concave. Anteclypeus swollen, about 2 / 3 of frontoclypeus height, with distinct median prominence. Pronotum narrow, collar­like, with paranotal lobes distinct, subquadrangular, anterior margin almost straight, posterior margin almost straight, only with shallow incision between median ridges, median ridges distinct, straight, widely separated, slightly exceeding posterior margin of pronotum, postocular protuberances distinct; mesonotum wide at base, shorter than pronotum in mid line, scutellum with distinct median convexity. Tegmina (Fig. 32) about 2.76 mm long, 1.57 mm wide, irregularly oval with tapered apex, coriaceous, punctate, each puncture with setiferous bulla. Costal margin ridge­like, thickened in basal portion, forming two distinct ridges, external and internal slightly bent under tegmen, slightly sinuate in apical portion. Base of common vein R + M without any protuberance, vein R with one distinct conical tubercle at half of tegmen length; vein M with two distinct, conical tubercles, first just before half of tegmen length, the second at ¾ of tegmen length. Vein Cu with big, elongate, triangular tumosity in median 1 / 3 of tegmen length. Claval suture in form of long ridge, reaching 1 / 3 of tegmen length from base, slightly more eminent at base and distinctly more eminent in posterior portion. Claval vein almost invisible, merely elevated from claval disc. Hind wings absent. Fore legs covered with setae, tibia with row AV with three longer, stiff setae in half length. Mid legs slightly longer, tibia covered with setae; hind legs more slender, femur with single apical seta, hind tibia about 1.37 mm long, rows PD and AD with four stout macrosetae, row AV with four stout macrosetae in distal half, row PV with two stout macrosetae in apical part, apex with double, transverse pecten on ventral surface, with proximal row of 7 spurs of spiniform plate and seta and distal row of 7 spurs of base and seta. Tarsomeres with numerous irregularly arranged setae, basitarsomere merely longer than combined length of mid and apical tarsomeres, external plantar margin with row of 7 thicker setae, a few similar setae also on plantar surface, mid tarsomere slightly shorter than apical tarsomere, both covered with setae, claws distinct, arolium bilobate. Female sternite 8 th large, 1. 54 mm wide, 0.56 mm long in mid line, deeply cleft in mid line, not covering base of ovipositor; laterally of median cleft pair of fissures not reaching caudal margin. Female pygofer 0.84 mm long, covered with setiferous bulla, setae hooked, lateral lobe of pygofer with small projection caudad. Ovipositor 1.33 mm long. Genital vestibulum in female with pair of elongate, elongately trapezoid sclerotizations (Fig. 33).
