Previously known only from the State of Pernambuco (Govaerts et al. 2010, Sobral et al 2010), now recorded in States of Paraíba, Alagoas and Sergipe.</p> <p>Trees or shrubs 3–5 m tall. This species differs by often having dichotomous branching, paniculate inflorescences, the calyx closed in bud and falling as a calyptra, globose fruit crowned by circular scars.</p> <p>Selected specimens: BRAZIL. In the Northeast region, it is found in the States of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte (Silva 2009, Lourenço 2010) and Pernambuco and Sergipe.</p> <p>Trees and shrubs to 3–8 m tall, leaves 4–13 × 1.3–5.0 cm, midvein flat or raised on adaxial lamina surface, raceme with main axis reduced, bracts elliptic, bracteoles linear, hypanthium and style glabrous, fruits globose. In areas of Pernambuco resting, samples were observed with a shrubby habit and shorter leaves, 4– 7.5 × 1.3–3.5 cm, compared to samples that occur in forests that are trees with larger leaves, 8–13 × 2.8–5 cm.</p> <p>Selected specimens: BRAZIL. Psidium oligospermum Mart. ex De Candolle (1828: 236) [Fig. 4X, Y; Fig. 6R]</p> <p>Endemic to Brazil from the central-west, northeast and southeast regions (Govaerts et al. 2010, Sobral et al. 2010).</p> <p>Trees and shrubs 2–6 m tall. This species differs from other Psidium species by having shorter leaves (2.5–5.0 cm long) and a calyptrate calyx tearing open irregularly.</p> <p>Selected specimens: BRAZIL.
