Mettenius ex Kuhn (1868: 59). Ceropteris argentea (Willd.) Kuhn (1879: 18). Pityrogramma argentea (Willd.) Domin (1928: 6). Type:— RÉUNION. Without locality, without date, Bory de St. Vincent s.n..[101?] pro parte (holotype B! [W19569], isotype P!).</p> <p>Cerosora argentea (Willd.) Hennequin &amp; H. Schneid. var. aurea (Willd.) Hennequin &amp; H. Schneid., comb. nov. Basionym: Hemionitis aurea Willdenow (1810: 131). Gymnogramma aurea (Willd.) Desvaux (1811: 305). Pityrogramma argentea var. aurea (Willd.) Mettenius ex Kuhn (1868: 59). Pityrogramma aurea (Willd.) Christensen (1932: 46). Type:— RÉUNION. Without locality, without date, Bory de St. Vincent s.n.[101?] pro parte (holotype B! [W19569], isotype P!).</p> <p>We decided not to treat the only other species of Pityrogramma endemic to Madagascar (Tryon 1962) because material for DNA research was not available. Comparison of morphological characters, however, indicates close relationships of this taxon to Cerosora argentea.
