Ten species share with the new species the dorsal macrochaetotaxy of Abd II and III: E. erratica Brown, 1932; E. karlstetterae Baquero & Jordana, 2008; E. koreana Yosii, 1965; E. monopunctata Lee & Park, 1984; E. nana Lee & Park, 1992; E. oleniensis (Tshelnokov, 1987); E. regularis Stach, 1963; E. tokunagai Yosii, 1942; E. vigintiseta Lee & Park, 1984; and E. bicincta Jordana & Baquero sp. nov. (see below). From all of them, E. amurica sp. nov. can be separated for the presence of unpaired Mc on Abd IV (area A8). From E. monopunctata and E. tokunagai, there is no information about the chaetotaxy of Th II, but they are different in the Mc of Abd IV: 0-2-1-2-2 for E. monopunctata and 1-3-2-2-2 for E. tokunagai. The only species with the same macrochaetotaxy on T1 and T2 on Th II is E. erratica. The remaining have 0–2 (E. karlstetterae), 4–4 (E. koreana), 3–2 (E. nana), 4–4(5) (E. oleniensis), 2–4 (E. regularis), 4–5 (E. vigintiseta) and 3–5 (E. bicincta sp. nov.). E. erratica has 0–0–3–2–2 dorsal Mc on Abd IV. The differences in dorsal macrochaetotaxy (reduced formula of Jordana & Baquero 2005) for all these species are shown in the Table 1.

http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F2A8555F11FFB2FF2DFD47E8345FBF	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. E. umbroviolacea sp. nov. is similar to four other species that share a similar dorsal macrochaetotaxy of Abd II–III (E. emiliae; E. pulcherrima; E. leviset a; and E. mediostriata sp. nov.). E. emiliae has a different formula for the head (3-2-0-3-2), Th II and Abd IV (3-6), labral papillae with a projection but not seta-like, shorter antennae, and a different shape for the claw (dorsal tooth not basal); E. pulcherrima has a different macrochaetotaxy formula for the head (4-1-0-3-2), Th II (4-4) and Abd IV (0-0-2-2-3), labral papillae simple and smooth, antennal apical vesicle simple, a different number of Mc on the manubrial plate and subapical tooth of mucro bigger than the apical one. E. leviseta has a different macrochaetotaxy formula for the head (3-1-0-3,1b), (the dorsal Abd IV is plurichaetotic, and eyes GH similar in size to EF. The color pattern is too very different when all these species are compared.

http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F2A8555F1AFFBCFF2DFDFBEB525989	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Accordingly to the most congeners (bark of the trees).

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to Marina Babykina, the researcher of Khingansky Reserve. Her friendly assistance helped us to collect the material this paper is based on.

Remarks. The macrochaetotaxy of Abd II–III is usually very stable within Willowsia, allowing species to be easily differentiated (Jordana & Baquero 2005). None of the known species of Willowsia with dorsal macrochaetotaxy formula described shares the formula for Abd II–III with this new species, and only for two species from the Palaearctic region this formula is unknown (W. brahma Imms, 1912 incerta sedis; W. yamashitai Uchida, 1969). The species that share with W. babykinae sp. n. the number and position of the dorsal Mc of Abd III are: W. fascia Pan & Zhang, 2016 (Hubei, Province, China); W. nigromaculata (Lubbock, 1873) Shoebotham, 1917 (Holarctic); W. nivalis Yosii, 1971 (= W. brahmides Yosii, 1966) (Himalaya); W. potapovi Zhang, Chen & Deharveng, 2011 (Caucasus, Azerbaijan); W. pseudosocia Stach, 1965 (Zhang 2015) (Vietnam); W. qui Zhang, Chen & Deharveng, 2011 (Zhejiang Prov., China); W. samarkandica Martynova, 1972 (Uzbekistan); W. similis Pan & Zhang, 2016 (Hunan Prov., China); W. yiningensis Zhang, Chen & Deharveng, 2011 (Xinjiang Prov., China); and W. zhaotongensis Chai & Ma, 2017 (Yunnan Province, China). Only three species share the number of Mc on Th II area T1: the new species, W. pseudobuski Pan & Zhang, 2016 and W. similis, but the rest of the dorsal macrochaetae formula allows its differentiation. The differences in dorsal macrochaetotaxy (reduced formula of Jordana & Baquero 2005) for all these species are shown in Table 2.

http://treatment.plazi.org/id/03F2A8555F19FFBBFF2DF8A4E8405D29	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
