Lambiella aspicilioides (Kantvilas) Kantvilas, comb. nov. Mycobank no. 8441108

Rimularia aspicilioides Kantvilas (2014: 353).

Type:— AUSTRALIA. Tasmania, Pine Lake, 41°45’S 146°42’E, 1230 m alt., on alpine dolerite boulders on steep scree slope, 18 February 2009, G. Kantvilas 72/09 (holotype − HO!; isotype − E!).

Endemic to Tasmania where it is widely scattered (but rarely common) on alpine dolerite rocks. The remarkable apothecial anatomy and unusual chemistry (2’- O -methylperlatolic acid) of this species is discussed by Kantvilas (2014). Lambiella is seen essentially as the “genus of best fit” for this distinctive lichen.
